Newcastle United won’t be appointing Jose Mourinho as their new boss as the AS Roma man committed his future to the Italian side.

Mourinho on Magpies job

Steve Bruce has gone and Newcastle are now seeking a new manager to replace him.

Last week, Mourinho sparked some rumours of a move to St. James’ Park.

Previously close to the late Sir Bobby Robson, Mourinho admitted that he has an ‘emotional connection’ with Newcastle.

However, Mourinho has now indicated that he will not be the next Newcastle manager.

Mourinho has stated that he will be staying with Roma having only took the job over the summer, vowing to see out his three-year deal.

José Mourinho to Sky Sport: “Newcastle job? I’ve decided to stay, I’m not leaving. I signed for three years project with Roma and I’m not gonna leave my players”. 🔴 #NUFC #ASRoma

Newcastle and Mourinho a bad fit right now

Maybe Mourinho can honour his former mentor Robson by becoming Newcastle boss one day.

Right now though, Mourinho heading to St James’ Park would have been a questionable fit.

Newcastle’s squad just isn’t set up for Mourinho, who likes to win quickly.

Newcastle need somebody who can steady the ship now and bring a more attractive brand of football in the future.

That just isn’t Mourinho’s style, and it’s may just as well that Mourinho has ruled himself out of the Newcastle running.
