SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — One woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Mountain View Corridor, according to officials with the Herriman Police Department.

The woman killed was identified as 38-year-old Stefanie Whittaker of Herriman.

HPD Deputy Chief Cody Stromberg said officers got a 911 call reporting the auto-pedestrian crash around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday.

“Driver of the black truck struck something and wasn’t sure what he’d hit. Got out and located an adult female laying on the ground. He then called 911,” Stromberg said.

Road is back open following a deadly autoped crash this am in Herriman.

Crash happened at the intersection of Northbound Mountain View Corridor and Real Vista Drive.

Officers found Whittaker who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said the driver, a male, said to be in his 40s or 50s, did stay on scene and was cooperating with police.

With the investigation underway, Stromberg urged people to be cautious on the roads.

“I know a lot of times we allow ourselves to be distracted by things. We think because we’re not in a vehicle that we’re safe, and other drivers assume that they see us,” Stromberg said.
