October is halfway over and in just a few weeks it will be Halloween! Before all the goblins go back into hiding, be sure to check out Scream-A-Geddon in Dade City.  Scream-A-Geddon is back for a fourth year of terrifying with THREE new attractions plus three returning houses and the Monster Midway featuring food, drinks, games and strolling characters.

Even though Scream-A-Geddon is set up in the abandoned woods of Dade City, people come from all over to experience the attraction. The moment we arrived, my husband said "Wow, check out this set up!". Once you enter, you find yourself in  the Monster Midway,  which a carnival-like atmosphere with a few haunted carnival games,  a rock wall,  a few snack booths, a souvenir booth, and a couple refreshment booths/tents with sodas, waters, and also beer and wine. The atmosphere is great and they even have a few fire pits to help set the mood. There are many gruesome and freaky characters walking around, so be sure to have your camera handy.

One of the new haunted attractions this year is Demon's Revenge.  The tale of the mysterious village of Avalon centers around witchcraft and the occult. " An official ledger reveals that Avalon’s residents went missing at a brisk pace. Month after month, year after year, the disappearances grew. The final tale tells of a citizen-led uprising against witchcraft, with all those accused of sorcery being tortured to death for confessions. The tale goes on to say that the souls of those executed then opened a portal to hell unleashing demons upon the village to rip apart the townsfolk one by one. Those who stumble upon the location of the portal to hell are grasped by a dark force, thrust into an alternate reality where the souls of the townsfolk are eternally subjected to the demon’s revenge…"

Can you make it out of the church without being succumbed by the dark force? I dare you!

My husband's favorite attraction was the Zombie Paintball Assault . It's a new attraction this year and replaced previous years  Haunted Hayride. Everyone boards a bus fitted with paint guns which then drives down into the dark woods where zombies have been seen.then let loose on all of the zombies in the woods. This attraction is not included in the ticket price and has an additional cost .

  • Recruit Package w/100 Paintballs = $9.95
  • Specialist Package w/ 200 Paintballs = $14.95
  • Sniper Package w/ 300 Paintballs = $19.95

Another new attraction this year is Rage 3D.  If clowns scare you, then you should stay clear of this one. The rooms twist and turn, music pumps so loudly that your screams can't be heard.  I remember the walls squeezing me in at one point so I ran to the nearest exit which wasn't anywhere around. There's a room with flashing lights and clowns that don't look real until they move and there's no where to run. "Get ready to have reality, fiction, dreams, nightmares all blend into one with an over-the-top experience that will leave you panicking for more."

Attractions that returned this year include Dead Woods and 2 interactive houses,  Blackpool Prison  &  Infected: Ground Zero.

The story for Infected: Ground Zero is that a car-sized object was detected entering Earth's atmosphere.  Upon investigation, the survivors were exhibiting symptoms of asphyxiation, viral contamination and severe tremors. And that is when all contact was lost!  Ground Zero is one of two "interactive" houses.  This means that before you enter, you have to decide if you want to "mark yourself" by wearing a neon necklace.  If you do, then you are agreeing to become a part of the house - the necklace lets the cast know that you can be touched, grabbed, held back and carried away by the characters within.

Blackpool Prison, the other interactive house (you can choose to wear a neon necklace and be part of the house), is full of darkness, prison cells, inmates,  and prison guards. There was a blackout and the prisoners have taken over and they grab you while you are trying to get out. Some make it out, only to be pulled back in.

Dead Woods a pitch black attraction where you were only given a glow-stick to light your way through a haunted forest. "This small corner of Bearstone National Park is avoided by locals due to the stories told of the Tate family who have called these woods home for five generations. To find your way out of Deadwoods you’ll need to navigate through dark, winding trails discovering different members of the Tate family in their cabins, workshops and outhouses."

I really enjoyed our night at Scream-A-Geddon. The lines were not too long and the characters entertained us if there was a short wait. The scare factor is also great since they space the groups out going into the attractions so the scares are plenty.

Of course, Scream-A-Geddon is for an adult crowd due to the beer, wine, and gruesome characters so keep that in mind if you plan on taking children.

Scream-A-Geddon is open every night through November 3.  You can purchase general admission tickets for as low as $19.95 online.  (It is recommended that you buy online as all tickets are $5 more at the box office).  There is also an option to purchase a VIP ticket, which I highly recommend!  It allows you to skip the general admission line once per attraction, or get the super VIP ticket which gives you unlimited front line access to all of the attractions, a tour guide and a gift shop credit.  Again, the Zombie Paintball Assault attraction is an additional cost. There is also an additional cost ($10) for parking.  You can purchase your tickets HERE
