TREMONTON, Utah — Tremonton Fire Department responded to a house fire Friday and used photos from the scene to offer an important but simple safety tip for the public: close your doors.

“Luckily the fire was contained quickly. In these pictures you can see the difference a closed door makes when there is a fire,” the department said on a Facebook post.

A closed door kept a house fire from spreading according to the Tremonton (Utah) Fire Department. (TFD)

One picture shows the blackened door, clearly scorched by fire, with damage to the home’s walls, while another photo shows the room beyond the barrier of the door, virtually untouched by the blaze.

“It’s always a good idea to close your bedroom doors while your sleeping,” Tremonton FD said.

There were no injuries in the fire and the cause is under investigation.
