Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain were recently caught enjoying the Times Square entertainment discreetly during their post-FIFA World Cup holiday. Having followed Sunday’s disheartening 3-1 loss to Lens, coach Christophe Galtier handed “a few days off” to a handful of PSG stars, particularly Hakimi and Mbappe.

The 24-year-old attacker, Kylian Mbappe, who netted a hat-trick in France’s FIFA World Cup final loss to Argentina the previous month, took advantage of his moment off to travel to New York with his pal, Achraf Hakimi. On Monday evening, the duo attended an NBA game between the Brooklyn Nets and the San Antonio Spurs, where Kylian Mbappe received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Following the match, the PSG duo was sighted in Times Square, although both players were donning hoods and face masks. Mbappe and Hakimi can be seen applauding the street performance in the footage provided by photographer Elder Ordonez here.

Mbappe featured in seven games for the 2018 world champions, netting eight goals. Hakimi settled the semi-finals of this winter’s championship with shock packet Morocco before even being edged out by France. Galtier acknowledged their vacation from first-team responsibilities following their 3-1 loss to Lens on Sunday, in which they both played. He stated, “Hakimi and Mbappe will have a few days off. The plan was that they could play these two games. They will now recover.”

Hakimi and Mbappe get special honor during an NBA Game

Following Paris Saint-Germain’s upset defeat to Lens, Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi traveled to New York to witness the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA. The France and Morocco internationals seemed to have quickly recovered from their stunning Ligue 1 setback on New Year’s Day, as they attended the Brooklyn Nets’ NBA triumph against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.

Throughout the match, the PSG pair was greeted warmly, and American professional basketball star Kevin Durant captured photos that have since gone viral on the web. Kevin Durant, the Nets’ icon, strolled over to the PSG duo and offered them his jersey after yet another stellar performance in which he scored 25 points for his club.

Hakimi’s World Cup goals were honored during the game as well. In celebration of Morocco’s triumph versus Spain in the round of 16, the stadium screen displayed Hakimi netting a goal at the world championship and doing his well-known penguin dance. On January 15, Mbappe, Hakimi, and Lionel Messi are scheduled to make their Ligue 1 comeback versus Rennes. Messi is also anticipated to be back by that time after assisting Argentina to win a long-awaited world championship in the Middle East.
