She was kind of an "it" girl for a second in the late '90s and early 2000s with her roles in "Varsity Blues" (in which she famously donned the whipped cream bikini, and fucked Paul Walker on a washing machine), "Final Destination", and "Legally Blonde". She of course became most widely known for her role on "Heroes", but I thought she was a decent actress, and pretty good in more humorous fare—her comic timing was solid in "Legally Blonde" and "Jay and Silent Bob". It seems like her career tanked after she did that shitshow with Beyonce and Idris Elba.

She was very limited, and old even back in the Heroes days.

There were younger sexpots, and better actresses to play sitcom moms and whatnot.

by Anonymousreply 1March 25, 2020 6:21 AM

Too limited. Like Erika Christensen.

The movie she did with Beyoncé was horrible but she was the best thing in it.

by Anonymousreply 3March 25, 2020 6:26 AM

She was in the final Resident Evil film with Milla Jovovich in 2016. Her character didn't really do much.

But Beyonce got plenty of gifs out of that role lol

She's not much of an actress but she's still beautiful. Great cook too.

by Anonymousreply 6March 25, 2020 11:29 AM

Do straight men really like whipped cream like that? I would think it would be messy and gross.

by Anonymousreply 7March 25, 2020 11:34 AM

R7 what does being straight have to do with it?

Always liked her. She carried the first two Final Destination movies on her back.

by Anonymousreply 9March 25, 2020 12:23 PM

I thought she was beautiful in Legally Blonde.

A rough trade Alicia Silverstone.

by Anonymousreply 13March 25, 2020 2:34 PM

She’s currently on The Rookie (recurring, but poised to jump to series regular). She quite good on the show and has wonderful chemistry with Nathan.

by Anonymousreply 14March 25, 2020 2:38 PM

She was also on Pitch. It's a shame it got cancelled.

by Anonymousreply 15March 25, 2020 2:43 PM

I liked her in the Final Destination movies and in Heroes, though what the mess they made of her characters (identical triplets!) was typical of the shitshow that the series turned into.

by Anonymousreply 16March 25, 2020 4:15 PM

She’s remained employed so she’s doing alright for herself. She doesn’t have a megastar career, but she’s doing better than 90% of girls from late 90s teen movie generation.

by Anonymousreply 17March 25, 2020 5:11 PM

R16 i think some of that can be blamed on the writers strike.

by Anonymousreply 18March 26, 2020 6:20 AM

Agreed R9. Devon Sawa was kind of a boring male lead in the first one, but she had an interesting screen presence and made up for it; she was also the best thing about the second one, hands down.

by Anonymousreply 19March 26, 2020 6:23 AM

Lol R11 this scene was great

Her spot was taken by Amy... Something, who lost that spot after five minutes.

by Anonymousreply 21March 26, 2020 7:01 AM

R22 Amy and Ali have actually been friends since the '90s; they apparently met each other in Milan while they were modeling, pre-acting careers. I think they subsequently lived together in LA while they were trying to break into the business. I can envision Ali as a model (she sort of has the "look"), but Amy has too much of a girl-next-door vibe for it IMO.

R23...I was just gonna say...I can imagine Ali a tad more than Amy but really neither of them. Maybe commercial modeling but not modeling in Milan (I think Ali Larter is prettier than most models, just not that type).

And certainly neither was ever built like a model.

by Anonymousreply 24March 26, 2020 7:39 AM

I would assume commercial/print modeling too, R24. Interestingly, before she was famous, Larter was actually on the cover of Esquire under the pseudonym "Allegra Coleman", and subject of a satirical puff-piece hoax article presenting her as a hot new star.

She was the bitchiest Bachelorette. But she had the sense to propose to that hot Dominican baseball player. La la. Their love didn't last. I read she had tested positive for the Coronavirus?

by Anonymousreply 27March 26, 2020 8:25 AM

I also forgot she was in House on Haunted Hill, the '99 remake. Cheesy special effects in the finale aside, I've always liked that movie.

She wasn't a terrific or versatile talent and Hollywood is a highly competitive business . In all honesty though , most of the subjects of DLs WEHT threads are actually quite successful compared to the thousands of aspiring actors who flock to LA each year . To make it even as far as Larter did is more than most Hollywood hopefuls ever get.

Never played a Resident Evil game, but I thought Claire Redfield was supposed to be a big deal. And I like Wentworth but he looks nothing like Chris.

She always had an aggressive look to me, I think she should have leaned into that more and gone for more villain roles.
